Prayer of approach

PRELUDE

Call to worship from Psalm 132

Liturgist: O LORD, remember in David's favor all the hardships he endured;

ALL: How he swore to the LORD and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob, I will not enter my house or get into my bed;

ALL: I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling-place for the Mighty One of Jacob."

We heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.

ALL: Let us go to his dwelling-place; let us worship at his footstool."

*Hymn # 139 “Come thou almighty King”

Call to Confession

In Christ, God came to reconcile all things, Making peace through the blood of the cross. Trusting in God’s grace let us confess our sin

Prayer of Confession (UNISON)

Righteous God,

You have crowned Jesus Christ as Lord of all. We confess that have not bowed before him and are slow to acknowledge his rule. We give allegiance to the powers of this world, and fail to be governed by justice and love. In your mercy, forgive us. Raise us to acclaim him ruler of all, that we may be loyal ambassadors, obeying the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ.

One: Now that we have confessed as a body, let us take the truths that have troubled our hearts to God silently. Let us not be worried about the awkwardness of silence, as we take some time to focus on speaking with our god.

SILENT REFLECTION

Words of Assurance

God has rescued us from the power of evil and claimed us for the realm of Jesus Christ, in whom we have redemption. In the name of Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

*Congregational Response: Gloria Patri # 579

*Passing of the Peace

One: since God has forgiven us in Christ let us forgive one another.

The Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

All: And also with you

One: Let us share signs on peace with one another

 Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended to heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting, Amen

Call for Offering

Giving is not a duty but a privilege. This perspective transforms the act of giving from a burden to a joyous expression of faith. It's an opportunity to be a part of something greater than oneself, to contribute to the welfare of the community and the world and to participate in divine work.

*DOXOLOGY Hymn #592

Prayer of Dedication

To you, O God, we offer our lives, our abundance, all that we have, all that we are—a sign of our great thankfulness for the treasure of your grace. May our gifts serve to help make the world more Christ-like, and Take and use us for good in the world that you created and love;

we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
