WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRAYER OF APPROACH

PRELUDE

CALL TO WORSHIP ( from Psalm 145 )

One: Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.

All: One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.

One: They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty - and I will meditate on your wonderful works.

All: They tell of the power of your awesome works -  and I will proclaim your great deeds.

One: They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

All: My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.

CALL TO CONFESSION

Nothing can be hidden from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth,
whose wisdom is endless, whose mercy is great. Trusting in God’s grace, let us confess our sin.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (UNISON)

Merciful God, forgive us when we try to rewrite your Word so that it better suits our earthly ways.  Help us to stretch our minds and our faith so that we welcome your signs and miracles.  Let us rejoice in your power and your glory, rather than to try and explain it away.  Remind us that we cannot take your Son by force to be a human king. Humble us Lord, so that we bow down in acknowledgment of your power and glory.  Lessen our pride, so that we understand that only though your grace can we be saved.  Fill our hearts with thankfulness for the gift of your Son, who gave up his life, so that we might be saved.  Amen

One: Now that we have confessed as a body, let us take the truths that have troubled our hearts to God silently.  Let us not be worried about the awkwardness of silence, as we take some time to focus on speaking with our God.

SILENT REFLECTION

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

PASSING OF THE PEACE

One: Since God has forgiven us in Christ,
let us forgive one another.
The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
All: And also with you.

One: Let us share signs of peace with one another.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH    The Apostles’ Creed

I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by
the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he
rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the
right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to
judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

CALL FOR THE OFFERING

PRAYER OF DEDICATION (UNISON)

Gracious God, as we offer these gifts today, we ask that your power be at work within us so that we may be able to accomplish abundantly far more than we could otherwise ask or imagine.  May these gifts serve to help reveal your glory in this broken world.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
