PRAYER OF APPROACH

PRELUDE

Call to worship from Psalm 124

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when our enemies attacked us, then they would have swallowed us up alive,

When their anger was kindled against us; then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;

Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.

We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers;

the snare is broken, and we have escaped.

Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Call to Confession

Jesus died and rose again that we might obtain forgiveness for our sins.  Please join me in the prayer of confession.

Prayer of Confession (unison)

Almighty God, we acknowledge and confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed; we have not loved you with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength; we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves.  We have not always followed Jesus in his mission to the world.  We have not always been faithful stewards of your Good Creation.  Deepen within us, our sorrow for the wrong we have done, and the good we have left undone.  Forgive us our God, and teach us to take your love for us into the world.

One: Now that we have confessed as a body, let us take the truths that have troubled our hearts to God silently.  Let us not be worried about the awkwardness of silence, as we take some time to focus on speaking with our god.

*PASSING OF THE PEACE

One: since God has forgiven us in Christ let us forgive one another.

The Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.All: And also with you

One: Let us share signs on peace with one another.

CALL FOR THE OFFERING

Giving is not a duty but a privilege. This perspective transforms the act of giving from a burden to a joyous expression of faith. It's an opportunity to be a part of something greater than oneself, to contribute to the welfare of the community and the world and to participate in divine work.

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION

Lord we give to you today what is already yours, a portion of the abundance with which you have provided us.  Help us to remember that all we have is made possible by the gifts with which you blessed us, and the bounty of your creation.  We pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
